Provides delivery and transportation services to (mostly) local and regional food producers throughout the New York City area. We support the local food system by delivering to a wide variety of wholesale customers as well as individuals and CSA members. We are almost two years old and are looking for an experienced driver to assist us in our delivery routes.
The job will entail picking up from producers at farmers markets and other locations in and around NYC and making deliveries to wholesale and individual customers. The Fresh Connection is a small but rapidly growing company, and the right candidate will have the opportunity to grow with it and become an integral part of what we are trying to build. You will be the right candidate if you are able to combine a passion for building a strong local and sustainable food system with the practical skills and experience listed below:
– Excellent geographic knowledge of and experience driving in New York City, particularly Manhattan and Brooklyn
– Experience driving a large cargo van and/or a 16’-20’ box truck (non-CDL)
– A clean driver’s license
– Knowledge of and a passion for local and sustainable food – Ability to work early, long days and be on time
– Experience working in the food industry (farming, restaurant, grocery, etc.) a plus but not required.
In the immediate term this is a part-time position, between 15-20 hours/week mostly in the afternoon and evening. However as we move toward the growing season much more time will become available, and the more flexible your schedule is, the better. Compensation:
