The Bronx Hot Sauce Competition
In 2014, Small Axe Peppers and GrowNYC launched The Bronx Greenmarket Hot Sauce using Serrano peppers grown locally including the Bronx. This year, we begin the “The Bronx 5K” campaign to encourage Bronx urban gardeners to grow 5,000 (5K) pounds of peppers for the delicious hot sauce. Community gardens, relevant public spaces and urban farms are all encouraged to participate.
YOUR CHALLENGE: Create a logo for “The Bronx 5K” campaign for use in print and online. The poster will be used to promote more local growing sites for the peppers and for the Hot Sauce itself. The sign should visually represent the Bronx, urban gardening or any of the unique aspects of the borough. Even better, use all three elements or whatever else you, the artist, deem relevant. No one is better than Bronxites to tell people what is happening in the Bronx!
1st place: $500
2nd place: $150
3rd place: $100
Winner and fi nalists will be announced in April.
