Healthy Exchange Project Manager Position (F/T)
GrowNYC’s Healthy Exchange Project provides the framework for making healthy,
regional food accessible to all New Yorkers by overseeing GrowNYC’s work to
promote and accept SNAP/EBT. Health Bucks, the  Farmers Market Nutrition
Program (FMNP) Checks, WIC Vegetable and Fruit Checks, and Greenmarket  Bucks.
Healthy Exchange enables GrowNYC’s goal to provide all New Yorkers with access
to fresh, local, nutritious food. The Healthy Exchange Project Manager reports
directly to the Greenmarket Assistant Director and oversees all operations
related to nutrition benefits and food access at farmers markets, with
particular attention to SNAP.
Responsibilities include:
• Oversee the logistics, promotion and acceptance of all market
currencies including EBT tokens, Debit/Credit tokens, Health Bucks, FMNP, WIC
CVV, Greenmarket Bucks, etc.
• Develop protocols, policies, and procedures to guide program
operations at market
• Partner with city government and community-based organizations to
implement and manage special programs to enhance food access at Greenmarkets
• Conduct project evaluation, including compiling reports and project
statistics
• Manage grant reporting and invoicing for Healthy Exchange projects
• Directly supervise Healthy Exchange Project Coordinator and oversee
market managers in their implementation of Healthy Exchange at markets
• Coordinate with partners to organize SNAP screenings and nutrition
education at Greenmarkets
• Work with the publicity team to manage the Healthy Exchange
communications strategy including on website and social media platforms
• Assist with revenue generation strategies and grant writing for the
project
• Oversee project budget
• Secure partnerships to obtain Americorps staff and other volunteers
during the season
• Convene other GrowNYC programs running food access initiatives, e.g.
Youthmarket & Fresh Food Box and provide technical assistance to ensure smooth
and consistent operating strategies
Ideal Qualifications
The Healthy Exchange Project Manager must possess the following skills:
• Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred
• 1-3 years project management experience
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage staff
• Ability to analyze descriptive program data and present results for
diverse audiences
• Understanding of SNAP and other nutrition benefit programs
• Experience working in the diversity of NYC neighborhoods
• Precision, accuracy and timeliness in reporting
• Outstanding written and oral communications skills, experience with
grant writing preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Ability to follow directions, work as a team, and manage others
