City Parks Foundation Teacher Training Workshop

Dear Friends,

It is our pleasure to announce that City Parks Foundation LEARN is launching our spring season Teacher Training Program starting this spring of 2019. The training theme is Experiential Learning: Using Gardens as Outdoor Classrooms. If you are a teacher, or know a teacher, who wants to take your students outside and lead meaningful educational activities outdoors, this training is for you.

This ASPDP and CTLE Certified program is a professional development opportunity for school day, after-school, and youth educators that will enable them to incorporate the knowledge and skills learned in their programs. Experiential Learning: Using Gardens as Outdoor Classrooms will provide teachers with academic and administrative tools to conduct science lessons using a Gardens as their outdoor classroom. Focusing on garden ecology in the Spring 2019 course. Topics will include urban forest cycles and wildlife adaptations with hands-on activities such as learning to identify NYC trees and catching and observing aquatic species. Teachers will take away lessons and activities as well as logistics on how to plan and smoothly implement outdoor field experiences with students.
