Good morning garden community!
I wanted to share an exciting opportunity with you all: we are looking for docents to help us teach our new Learning Gardens afterschool workshop program: ECOKIDZ!
EcoKidz is where late elementary and middle school students learn the importance of growing vegetables, herbs, and beneficial plants for food, medicine and beauty at one of the Learning Gardens sites. The program will be available for drop-in sessions. Participants will be able to help tend crops, make quick healthy dishes, create beauty care products, and more!
This position is best for people in the neighborhood who have prior experience who want to volunteer their time and/or want to learn more about teaching outdoors in a garden setting. Docents will be working alongside our school day programming staff who is knowledgeable and an expert in her field.
The program takes place at Abib Newborn Learning Garden, located on 495 Osborn Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Please see the pdf flyer attached (or you can email me) and the volunteer position can be found here: https://cityparksfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/LG-19-EcoKidz-Volunteer-Docent-1-1.pdf
Happy first day of school!
